79 Orchard Street is Actually on Frederick Douglass Boulevard Between 112th and 113th
It's a little secrete that, as evidenced by the lack of open seats, everyone seems to know about.
The three-day-old 79 Orchard Street, nowhere near Orchard Street, but instead on Frederick Douglass Boulevard between 112th and 113th, is a recreation of an African American speak easy from a different age. The seats are limited to provide a cozy feel, the downstairs can host intimate gatherings of eight for a multi-course dinner, and the photo rights are held by New York Magazine until their story on the venue runs.
Opened by the owners of Society Coffee, the locale offers unique liquors served by a learned staff who not only know their specialty mixed drinks, but also can converse on esoteric Public Enemy lyrics and releases by MC Solaar.

Walked by tonight and found the place quite alive -- after very nearly missing the fact that it was open at all. Interesting concept that I will definitely have to check out more later.

Was there on Saturday night and the place was packed. The drinks they're testing out are great (tried three different ones and all were good. I'm lucky that mixing Tequila, Vodka and Gin didn't kill me!). I'm looking forward to trying the bar food they'll start putting out soon.
However, one small correction. I think the place is actually called 67 Orange St. I'm not sure about the number, but pretty sure about the St. name. I was told it was named for a joint that used to exist down in the old Five Points neighborhood, which was centered on Orange (now Baxter) St.

I believe Harlem Condo Life wrote about this bar or business as well about a week ago. Apparently its the newest business in the area, along with Atomic Wings.
