Corner Of Lenox And 126thTo Be An M&T?

I don't normally post during the day, but someone emailed to say that the building under renovation on the Southeast corner of Lenox and 126th that was supposed to be an ESPN Zone is actually going to be an M&T bank.

Uh, seriously?

it's true. i walked by saturday evening and spotted the green from 1/2 a block away. it seems to be occupying the entire bottom floor. then there is a separate door/entrance that leads to stairs to the upper floors. i just cant imagine those stairs are leading to an ESPN zone. through the window, the upper floors look suspiciously like an office.

I just thought whatever it was would have a M&T ATM...that's all I noted in the corner of the bldg. THere seems to be the beginnings of an M&T branch further up on Lenox..maybe 134th ish...it has a sign on the building.

More banks on 125th. At least m & T has been in Harlem for a while. If you are a long time Harlem resident attempting to get a business loan - forget it. None of the banks are trying to service you. Only chains. Maybe one of our "new settlers" will go in and secure a loan for a small fee. This technique works for whena black man needs a cab(notice all of the yellow cabs now uptown) and in buying a brownstone- A friend used a white friend to see a brownstone on his behalf. As soon as he clsoed on the property and they saw he was a young black guy- they tried to pull the property from him. they thought his white friend was going to be the owner. Luckily for my friend he is a vicious lawyer and stopped the realtor in her tracks. He lives in his place surrounded by new settlers. While not originally from New York he feels cheated out of moving to the black mecca that was once Harlem. He said "Did i move to the upper East Side or Harlem?

when he looks and sees the projects he will know he is in Harlem because Harlem has so many of these damn buildings!!!

I guess it's true. They finally removed the veil. 1 year and half contruction for a freakin bank. How disappointing. Really wanted something cool...

Do you really think they would really have something cool with millions of project apartments just 10 blocks down?

The 65 churches between 110th and 125th on Lenox would also prevent any decent restaurants opening up because of the trouble obtaining a liquor license!!!

HI,

I now live at THE LENOX which is on 380 Lenox Ave and West 129th Street. Its just great here, we moved from Sutton Place and the excitement and energy here is amazing. Te building on Lenox and 126th St is a bank and it will also house the NBA world headquarters, thats going to be wonderful for this area. Also ROberta Flax is suppose to be openning a dance academy there too. The deli on 130th is all newly redone and almost ready to open. I hope we can all work together to get more businesses up here. Right in our building a high end car dealership is signed a lease. Its going to sell Rolls Royces and Lamborghinis and Ferraris, so I think Midtown North is alive and well and going strong. I'd love to see it also have local artistist with galleries and also more jazz in the streets and I know so much more is going to happen SOON. Also see www.newnewyorker.com for reviews of restaurants and shopping up here, alot more will soon be added.
