Chow Lost / Abandoned Near 134th & FDB
A reader writes in to say she has seen what looks to be a Chow either lost of without a home:
I've been seeing this abandoned (or perhaps lost?) dog on my block (corner of 134th and Fredrick Douglass)--it's a black chow (looks purebred to me, but I'm not an expert) that has been eating out of the garbage cans. The dog seems to be totally self sufficient and doesn't look sick, just dirty. I've seen it 3 times (twice this week), always around 9am.
I'm just writing because there's a chance that this dog was lost, and it would be great to locate the owner... or maybe someone could take the dog in. My apt doesn't allow dogs, so I really can't do much here... I don't
want to report the dog to the shelter because it might be killed there...
I just don't know who I could call/email to help out this poor creature.

He may belong to someone who lets him out at the same time each day. Maybe an elderly neighbor. I would investigate further if I were you.

i used to see a woman (in her late 40s) walking a black chow around 137 and lenox/7th avenue in the mornings. maybe it's her dog? i haven't seen her or the dog lately. and i unfortunately, don't know her name. please consider putting up flyers or something or probing into this further.

Im pretty sure it's owned. I've seen a chow on 135 and FDB. The owner leaves a water bowl out for him. But it is sad that he's left out like that. Any tags or anything on him?
