It seems that the only reason Cimbi hates us is that there are some freak times when we are not giving her our absolute full attention. We give her only the wet and dry food she likes, we play with her every night, and Cheryl buys the cat a new toy about every three hours. Nonetheless, Cimbi insists on biting our ankles every morning before we leave and our hands every evening when we come home. We commonly refer to the cat as our abusive partner.

But there is more to it. Cheryl would really like a lap animal. The cat will sit in our laps, but usually only to bite us better. Also, I really like going on walks, no matter the weather, especially in Central Park. Here, a dog will solve this problem as I would have to take it on walks, even if Cheryl insisted there is something I need to be doing right that instant. --Cheryl, I can't paint the guest room as I have to walk the dog... Cheryl, I know that picture must be hung, but the dog needs to be walked right now, and it will probably take all night to walk it... Cheryl, I know that the books on the second shelf are not in size order, but if the dog is not walked, it will die...--
